2025 growing season announcement!
Get used to seeing my mug around here again! 😘

Hi folks,

I hope you’ve all had a good, wholesome fall and winter. I wanted to touch base about the upcoming season. I’ll be taking a break from Root + Sprout for the 2024 growing season. I’ve been uncomfortably sitting and wrestling with this decision for the past four months or so, and I’m feeling both sad and a little relieved. Calan and I are wanting to spend more time with our family and friends over the summer weekends this year. Over the past few years we are always turning down invitations and now that Aubrey is a full, active toddler, we are wanting to prioritize some fun weekend things for her with the people we love. I have of course tossed around switching harvest and pickup to a different day but I cannot logistically do it at this time. Perhaps next year, when Aubrey is older, or some life circumstances change. For this year though, we are pressing pause to Root + Sprout and all of our offerings.

THANK YOU for your support over the past few years. The relationships we’ve built have been so amazing, nourishing and fulfilling. I appreciate every one of you that has been here in this journey with me. (Some of you will be seeing friend requests from my personal insta soon!)

If you’d like recommendations on other farms to get your greens from this season, I’m happy to recommend some to you, send me a DM.

The garden is looking amazing despite not getting any rain. CSA members will be getting an email from me in the next two weeks with an official start date. If you want to be on that mail list there’s still a few CSA spots open until the end of this week!

A big thanks to my dad for watering everyday during this heatwave to keep everything alive. ♥️

Even though Brandon has seen lots and lots of rain lately, the farm has seen zero, zip, notta, nothin’. So we sit and wait and watch the dark clouds pass on by, fill up the water tank and throw another few thousand gallons over the garden.

The flea beetles also moved in, so today we finally got row covers on and replanted a few crops including kale, kohlrabi and arugula just incase they don’t make a comeback.

We all went inside during Aubrey’s nap to cool off and then returned outside and went for a gator ride and laughed in the wind! Woohooo! 💨

The rain was so needed so it was nice to see that this morning! Chard, spinach, kale, and carrots are now up, and the garlic and rhubarb continue to grow and grow and grow!

We still have a bit of planting to do, but we sowed the beets, peas, beans, cucumbers, and more carrots into the garden on Mother’s Day.

We will be feasting sooooooonnnn!!!

Eight calves have been born on the farm in the last 24 hours and now we are down to our final nine!

I’ve had a hard time showing up in this space lately because I have had zero ideas about what to show on my feed or what to say. An Instagram “slump” maybe?

Today I was telling calan how I was having a hard time coming up with any content to share in this community, and he encouraged me to just share anything.

So, here I am.

Today I’ve been cleaning our home. Aubrey had oatmeal for breakfast which made a huuuge mess and so I sent Aubrey and Calan swimming and I started to clean. My objective was to mop all our floors but little by little I moved our large pieces of furniture to get that deep clean, dusted, cleaned all the large surfaces in our kitchen, as well as the microwave, and appliances.

Feeling clean and accomplished! ✌🏼

P.S. for those of you who don’t know, Calan and I really love renovating our 60’s split level home to make it into our little scandi/mid-century/minimalist nest. Dreaming and discussing upcoming projects is always on the table here! 🏡
